Policy Proposals for SMEs and Small Business Owners Reflecting Youth Perspectives
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced on the 29th that it held a certificate awarding ceremony for honorary public officials of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The honorary public officials of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups are university students interested in SME policies who visit the Ministry to directly experience the work and propose policies.
The 18 honorary public officials selected this time started their first day of work on the 3rd of this month and, over three weeks, visited policy sites such as regulatory free zones and directly experienced the entire policy process, including listening to key projects from current public officials. At the certificate awarding ceremony held in the final week of their activities, the honorary public officials presented representative policy proposals based on their three weeks of experience by creating policies themselves.

The representative policy proposals included measures to enhance transparency in the selection process of companies participating in regulatory free zones, plans to revitalize industry-academia-research cooperation for SMEs, and long-term activation plans for the small business startup ecosystem through education. The policy proposals will be reviewed by the relevant departments and necessary parts will be promoted to be reflected in actual policies. Honorary public officials who wish to participate will be selected as policy monitoring members and will continue communication with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Lee Ha-nyeong, Innovation Administration Officer of the Ministry, said, "We will continue to create opportunities to meet directly with young people in the future."
