Jeongeup-si to Conduct Guidance and Inspection of Seasonal Food Products Until the 6th of Next Month
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province will conduct guidance and inspections to ensure the safety management of ritual and gift foods in preparation for the Chuseok holiday.
According to the city on the 29th, a comprehensive inspection will be carried out from today until the 6th of next month targeting Chuseok peak season food manufacturers and sellers within the jurisdiction.
The city plans to organize three teams with nine members, including consumer food hygiene monitors, to carry out the inspections.
The inspection targets include 19 holiday peak season food manufacturing and processing businesses, 24 other food sales businesses such as large supermarkets, and 53 on-site sales manufacturing and processing businesses within traditional markets.
The main inspection items are hygienic management of machines and equipment directly used in food manufacturing and processing, sales of expired foods, appropriateness of raw materials used, and hygienic handling of other foods.
For violations found during this inspection, minor infractions will be corrected immediately on-site.
Additionally, for traditional markets, which are vulnerable in terms of hygiene, the city plans to strengthen guidance, enlightenment, and education rather than focusing solely on enforcement, aiming to improve hygiene levels and ensure the safety of foods sold.
In particular, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, compliance with core quarantine rules such as mandatory mask-wearing notices will also be checked.
A city official stated, “Through the Chuseok peak season food hygiene inspection, we will eradicate unhygienic foods,” and added, “We will do our best to create safe food environments so that citizens can purchase peak season foods with confidence.”
