Korean and Chinese Youth Share Friendship Through Online Baduk
Muan-gun and Shangshu City, China, Host Youth Friendship Online Baduk Tournament
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 25th, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, held an online friendly Baduk (Go) tournament for youth exchange with its international sister city, Shangshu City, China.
Hosted by Muan-gun and the Muan-gun Baduk Association, the online friendly Baduk tournament featured seven players from each country and was conducted on an online Baduk platform.
The Muan-gun representative team consisted of Choi E-jae (male, 2-dan) from Oryong Elementary School, Lee Yong-jun (male, 6-dan) from Haengbok Elementary School, Byun Soo-chang (male, 5-dan) from Namak Elementary School, Lee Seung-jae (male, 3-dan) from Buju Elementary School, Lim Jae-hyun (male, 6-dan) from Korea Baduk Middle School, Jo Yong-woo (male, 4-kyu) from Namak Middle School, and Seo Soo-young (male, 6-dan) from Namak Middle School.
The matches lasted for two hours, and all participating players were awarded certificates of participation and friendly Baduk tournament prizes.
The head of the Muan-gun Autonomous Administration Department said, “Regardless of wins or losses, we appreciate the efforts of the players who demonstrated their best skills freely, and we hope this tournament became a stage to share friendship through Baduk. We will continue to strive to maintain exchange and cooperation with Shangshu City.”
Meanwhile, since signing a letter of intent for partnership in 2013 through the introduction of the Jeollanam-do China Representative Office, Muan-gun and Shangshu City have shared cultures through exchange visits and youth homestays, and plan to continue active exchanges to promote friendship in the future.
