Jeju Fire Headquarters Operates 'Residential Fire Safety Equipment Support Application System'
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) announced on the 26th that starting next month, it will operate an application system for support of residential fire safety facilities to create a fire-safe living environment.
Following the revision and enforcement of the "Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Ordinance on Fire Safety Facility Installation Standards for Houses and Vacation Pensions" on June 25, the scope of support for installing residential fire safety facilities has been expanded and clarified compared to before, and applicants can now apply directly themselves.
The eligible applicants include households where elderly people aged 65 or older live alone, persons with disabilities, recipients of government aid and near-poverty class, households composed only of minors, or those where the head of the household falls under these categories.
Applicants who wish to apply can download the application form from the Fire Safety Headquarters or each fire station’s website, fill it out, and then submit it to the relevant fire station via fax, email, or in person after having the eligibility confirmed through the administrative city or related departments.
The Fire Safety Headquarters has secured enough units to install fire safety facilities in 1,000 households and plans to support the installation of residential fire safety facilities directly in eligible households through collaboration with volunteer fire brigades within this year.
To ensure smooth implementation of the system, the headquarters is strengthening public awareness among residents by establishing a cooperative system with related departments, broadcasting promotional videos on bus information systems and electronic billboards, posting banners, and attaching posters. They also plan to continuously secure the quantity of supported residential fire safety facilities in the future.
Park Geun-oh, Chief of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “We will actively promote the application system for residential fire safety facility support and assist with installations to create a safe living environment for residents. We will continue to discover and actively pursue projects closely related to residents’ safety.”
