[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] The assets of 14 current and former high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Justice and prosecution have been disclosed. Vice Minister of Justice Ino Gong reported assets worth 6.4 billion KRW, confirming that he holds the largest amount of assets among the current and former high-ranking officials subject to asset disclosure in the Ministry of Justice and prosecution.
According to the "2022 August Interim Asset Registration of High-ranking Officials" released on the 26th by the Government Officials Ethics Committee, the average total assets of 14 current and former high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Justice and prosecution were calculated at 2.64 billion KRW.
Most of Vice Minister In's assets are real estate. Together with her husband, Song Jong-ho, a partner lawyer at Sejong Law Firm, she owns one apartment in Tower Palace, Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (2.52 billion KRW), and one apartment under reconstruction in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu (3.78 billion KRW). The couple also holds a membership worth 85 million KRW at the JW Marriott Seoul Fitness Club.
Shin Ja-yong, Director of the Ministry of Justice Prosecution Bureau, reported a total of 950 million KRW including an officetel in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do under his spouse's name and a double bass musical instrument. Kwon Soon-jung, Director of the Ministry of Justice Planning and Coordination Office, reported a total of 1.4 billion KRW including a multi-family house in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
Kim Yoo-cheol, Director of the Public Investigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, reported a total of 3.09 billion KRW including an apartment in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, and a golf membership at Taekwang Country Club. Han Seok-ri, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, reported 1.82 billion KRW including a pre-sale right for an apartment in Gaepo 1-dong, Gangnam-gu. Hong Seung-wook, Chief Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, reported a total of 1.21 billion KRW including an apartment in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Song Kyung-ho, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, reported a total of 2.25 billion KRW including an apartment in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu under his spouse's name. Yang Seok-jo, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, reported a total of 3.81 billion KRW including an apartment in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu.
Among former officials subject to reporting, former Vice Minister of Justice Kang Seong-guk held the largest assets worth 4.81 billion KRW. Former Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo reported 1.85 billion KRW.
