Sempio Yori Essence Yeondu Wins Top Award at UK's 'Great Taste Awards'
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Sempio announced on the 25th that its purely plant-based fermented soybean essence Yeondu received the top award at the globally prestigious food and beverage ceremony, the Great Taste Awards.
Started in the UK in 1994, the Great Taste Awards is a food and beverage ceremony recognized for its authority by food industry professionals worldwide. This year, over 14,000 products were submitted, and Sempio Yeondu won the top award (2 Stars, Outstanding grade).
About 500 judges from various sectors of the food and beverage industry, including chefs and food columnists, conducted the evaluation. They commented, "The taste and aroma of soybeans and vegetables blend well to create a balanced flavor, with a rich umami that is attractive and an excellent sauce that can replace meat-based broth."
Last year, Yeondu also received excellence awards in two categories?vegetarian and vegan foods?at the UK’s Veggie Awards. Earlier, in May 2020, it won the ‘Innovative Product of the Year’ at the Food and Beverage Awards, considered the most influential ceremony in the US food industry, and was selected as a ‘Next Generation Innovative Product’ at the 2018 Natural Products Expo.
Yeondu is a product born from Sempio’s unique soybean fermentation technology. It is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Korean soy sauce, with a light color and aroma but rich umami. It does not spoil the original color of dishes and pairs well with any cuisine worldwide.
