Gwangju Dong-gu Conducts 'Gender Sensitivity' Training for All Employees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 24th that it conducted education on ‘Gender Impact Assessment and Correct Understanding of Gender Sensitivity’ for all public officials.
The training held the previous day was designed to enhance employees' gender sensitivity to minimize gender discrimination and inequality when establishing various policies or promoting projects, and to realize a gender-equal Dong-gu through gender-tailored policies.
Under the theme of ‘Viewing Policies from a Gender-Sensitive Perspective,’ Professor Kim Haeng-hee from the Department of Public Administration at Chonnam National University, a consultant for Dong-gu’s Women-Friendly City, was invited to share the importance of gender sensitivity based on actual administrative cases.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “I hope this training served as an opportunity to strengthen public officials’ gender sensitivity capabilities and build consensus on the importance of gender equality,” adding, “As the first city nationwide to receive the highest certification as a Women-Friendly City, we will create a happy Dong-gu for all through effective gender-sensitive policies.”
