Gamescom is one of the world's top three game exhibitions, attracting 370,000 visitors and featuring 1,100 hardware, software, and game content creators. Samsung Electronics will create an Odyssey City in a 500㎡ (approximately 151 pyeong) exhibition space at Gamescom, centering the exhibition around the next-generation gaming screen, the Odyssey Ark.
The Odyssey Ark will be unveiled to the European market for the first time at this event. It is the world's first 55-inch (UHD) gaming screen with a 1000R curvature, applying Quantum Mini LED technology. It supports a vertical cockpit mode, allowing users to adjust the screen size and ratio as desired. To enjoy various games, it offers customizable settings from 27 inches to 55 inches and aspect ratios from 16:9 to 21:9 and 32:9. After pre-sales in Korea and nine European countries including Germany, it is scheduled to be released throughout Europe in the third quarter. In Korea, exclusive pre-sales will be conducted on Samsung.com from the 24th to the 30th.
At Gamescom 2022, Samsung Electronics will also unveil new 2022 Odyssey gaming monitor models supporting Samsung Gaming Hub (a cloud-based streaming game platform) to the European market for the first time. The models unveiled this time include four types: the G70B (32-inch and 28-inch) with UHD resolution and the G65B (32-inch and 27-inch) with QHD resolution.
The Odyssey G70B is a gaming monitor with a wide viewing angle flat panel, a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, and UHD (3840x2160) high resolution. It supports a 1 ms response time (GTG standard) and a 144 Hz high refresh rate. The Odyssey G65B is a gaming monitor with a 1000R curved panel, a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, and QHD (2560x1440) resolution. It supports a 1 ms response time (GTG standard) and a 240 Hz high refresh rate. GTG is a standard for measuring response time, measuring the time it takes to transition from bright gray to dark gray.
Samsung Electronics emphasized that both models support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and the G70B model has received NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certification, reducing screen tearing. Another feature is that users can enjoy various online video services (OTT) such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video without a separate PC or TV. Samsung plans to launch these two models globally, including Europe, within this year.
