At the inauguration ceremony held at KHNP headquarters in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, President Hwang said, "We will create another miracle and make KHNP a company that elevates national prestige."
President Hwang expressed his ambition, saying, "Let us write a new history of achieving the export of 10 nuclear reactors with the strength and pride of becoming a nuclear powerhouse by introducing nuclear power without technology," and "We will create another miracle and make KHNP a company that elevates national prestige."
He also promised, "Nuclear safety is our life," and "We will operate nuclear power plants at the highest safety level."
To achieve the export of 10 nuclear reactors, President Hwang declared that he will enhance nuclear safety and the competitiveness of the nuclear power industry, strengthen the foundation for future growth, and promote the creation of new growth engines through eco-friendly energy.
President Hwang emphasized, "To ensure the safe operation of nuclear power plants, the procurement process must be actively improved so that parts can be supplied immediately when necessary," and "We must also devote efforts to thorough preparation for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 and securing public acceptance for the continued operation of 10 nuclear reactors."
The legislation of the spent nuclear fuel management plan is also expected to accelerate. President Hwang stressed, "While proactively advancing the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project, we will strive to have nuclear hydrogen production recognized as clean hydrogen to receive benefits under the Hydrogen Act."
He explained, "We will expand overseas hydropower projects, modernize and localize hydropower generation, and create new growth engines based on eco-friendly energy," adding, "We will also strengthen a preventive internal control system to operate the organization efficiently."

Born in 1956, President Hwang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering and earned a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States. He is a nuclear power expert who was the first in Korea to receive a doctoral degree abroad in the field of radiation and radioactive waste.
