Strengthening Internet Security Without Equipment or Personnel... KT Launches 'SafeNet'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT announced on the 22nd that it will launch a secure internet service called 'KT SafeNet.' 'SafeNet' is an additional service that enhances internet security without the need for security equipment installation or personnel.
Recently, the number of hacking attacks has increased, and the targets have expanded from large corporations to small businesses and individuals. According to the government's e-Nara Index statistics, the number of reported intrusion incidents in Korea has been on the rise over the past three years, increasing from 418 cases in 2019 to 603 in 2020, and 640 in 2021. According to data from the Korea Internet & Security Agency, small and medium-sized enterprises accounted for 90% of private companies affected by hacking incidents from 2019 to mid-2021. Although the need to strengthen internet security is growing for small-scale businesses, the burden of costs and manpower remains significant.
Through 'KT SafeNet,' primary blocking of hacking sites registered in KT's threat database (DB) is possible. When a site is blocked, the type of block (phishing, pharming, information leakage, ransomware, malware, etc.) is classified, and prevention guides and simple response methods tailored to each type are provided. A monthly regular blocking history report allows businesses to easily grasp their security status at a glance.
When subscribing to 'KT SafeNet,' users receive a KT Premium PC Vaccine (license for one device), which provides PC security functions and supports data recovery costs through designated centers in case of damage caused by ransomware. Additional vaccine licenses can be obtained on the KT information security portal 'SecureGate' website. Businesses using KT internet lines can subscribe to the SafeNet service and use internet security services for 4,400 KRW per month (based on a 36-month contract).
