[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] According to a customer survey by TMON, more than half of the respondents showed a positive response to sending Chuseok gifts via mobile.
On the 22nd, TMON announced the results of a survey conducted with about 400 customers to commemorate the launch of the new gifting brand 'Gifty'. The survey results showed that 52% of respondents had a positive reaction to sending Chuseok gifts via mobile, including "should use it more actively (21%)" and "it doesn't matter much since times have changed (29%)". Negative responses such as "do not prefer it" accounted for 8%, and 38% responded with "still cautious about sending to elders," indicating concerns about the gift recipients.
Mobile Chuseok gifts were mainly preferred for recipients with less formality burden, favoring gifts under 50,000 KRW. The gift recipients were ranked as friends (62%), family (53%), and coworkers (38%), and the most common gift budget was between 30,000 and 50,000 KRW (46%). Preferred gift items included health supplements (61%) and e-tickets (57%).
Additionally, respondents cited "ease of purchase (77%)" as the top reason for preferring gifting services, followed by "time-saving due to non-face-to-face interaction (53%)" and "ability to give reasonable gifts (38%)" as advantages. The main disadvantage was "insufficient discount benefits (55%)", which ranked higher than "limited product selection (45%)" and "concerns about delivery status (40%)".
