Mokpo City Conducts Realistic Emergency Drill for '2022 Eulji Exercise'
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do will conduct the '2022 Eulji Exercise' from the 22nd to the 25th, with about 2,000 participants including 14 related organizations such as military units.
According to Mokpo City on the 19th, the Eulji Exercise is an annual emergency preparedness drill conducted to actively respond to wartime, incidents, or equivalent national emergencies. It will begin with an emergency assembly of all public officials at dawn on the 22nd, followed by discussions on wartime issues, tabletop exercises, and actual drills.
The discussions on wartime issues will focus on practical solutions such as comprehensive recovery plans following the destruction of urban infrastructure. The tabletop exercises will simulate scenarios such as material and human damage caused by an attack on the Mokpo Port passenger pier, practicing incident handling.
The actual drills will include a civil defense evacuation drill on the 24th for main office employees, reflecting the COVID-19 situation, and a 'rescue and fire suppression drill due to enemy terrorism' at the Ceramic Industry Center in Yeonsan-dong to cultivate response capabilities for similar incidents.
