Songpa-gu, "'Meal Tray Shuttle' Controversy is Groundless... No Exclusive Compartment for the District Mayor Exists"
The Mayor of Songpa-gu clarified that he has never dined alone in a private section of the staff cafeteria and that no such private section for the mayor exists in the cafeteria.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa District Office, mentioned legal action regarding the 'shikpan shuttle' controversy. Previously, a media outlet reported that Mayor Seo made employees shuttle food trays and dined alone in a private section.
In response, Songpa District issued a clarification stating, "The mayor has never dined alone in a private section of the cafeteria. There is no such place as a private section exclusively for the mayor in the cafeteria." Regarding the excessive protocol controversy, the district explained, "Since taking office on July 1, the mayor has dined in the cafeteria once or twice a week as part of his official duties, to show courtesy to local Songpa figures visiting the district office and to save budget," adding, "Since it is not possible for visitors to line up with employees to receive food trays and eat together, the responsible staff prepared meals in advance. Describing this as a 'shikpan shuttle' and 'excessive protocol' is a clear falsehood."
