On this day, the Farmers' Association demanded ▲withdrawal from CPTPP accession ▲support for agricultural material costs ▲securing dedicated personnel in related departments within cities and counties ▲measures to address the decline in agricultural product prices ▲and the enactment of the Basic Farmers Act.
They pointed out, "In a recent presidential briefing by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the first priority was price stabilization, and the fifth was the spread of pet protection culture," adding, "The government is ignoring farmers who are suffering from the plummeting rice prices and soaring production costs such as feed and fertilizer prices, and is trying to expand agricultural product imports under the pretext of price stabilization."
They also said, "Agriculture is like a pantry in a household where family members can always eat and not go hungry," and "Joining the CPTPP is like entrusting the pantry key to others."
They continued, "Starting this year, farmers' allowances have finally begun to be paid to women farmers as well, but they are mostly excluded from agricultural policies," adding, "Even what little exists is implemented by local governments or mostly does not include them as beneficiaries."
