Peugeot·DS Launch Electric Vehicles with Improved Driving Range... "Customer Delivery Starts Late September"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Stellantis Korea announced on the 18th that it will launch three electric vehicles?the 2022 model year Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 sport utility vehicles (SUVs), and the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense?with improved driving range per single charge. The official customer delivery will begin at the end of September.
The three electric vehicles, Peugeot e-208, e-2008 SUV, and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, were initially launched in Korea in 2020. The 2022 model year versions of these three EVs have been newly upgraded to extend their driving range at room temperature by up to approximately 15%, maximizing usability.
The Peugeot e-208 expanded its driving range from the previous 244 km to 280 km, a 14.8% increase based on combined standards, providing practicality not only for urban driving but also for weekend trips. The Peugeot e-2008 SUV and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense enhanced their competitiveness with a driving range of 260 km, a 9.7% increase compared to previous models.
The company maintained the existing 120Ah battery capacity but achieved a breakthrough in driving range through technological advancements. It equipped the vehicles with low rolling resistance tires and adopted gear ratios optimized for both city and highway driving to minimize energy consumption.
The powertrain features a 100 kW electric motor delivering a maximum output of 136 horsepower and a peak torque of 26.5 kg·m. From a standstill, the e-208 reaches 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, the e-2008 SUV in 9.0 seconds, and the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense in 8.7 seconds. There are three driving modes available: ‘Eco,’ which focuses on improving fuel efficiency; ‘Normal,’ suitable for general driving conditions; and ‘Sport,’ which instantly boosts torque.
The Peugeot e-208, e-2008 SUV, and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense are based on the e-CMP platform, the electrified version of the next-generation small car platform CMP (Common Modular Platform). The CMP platform is a multi-energy platform compatible with both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles, enabling electric models to offer the same interior and trunk space, style, and advanced features as their internal combustion counterparts.
The sales prices are as follows: Peugeot e-208 Allure at 49 million KRW, GT at 53 million KRW; e-2008 SUV Allure at 50.9 million KRW, GT at 53.9 million KRW; and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense Grand Chic at 57.9 million KRW.
Jake Aumann, President of Stellantis Korea, stated, “With the model year update, Peugeot and DS’s pure electric vehicles have extended their driving range, becoming more efficient and reasonable urban electric cars. We hope customers will experience an eco-friendly electric car lifestyle immediately with deliveries starting at the end of September without delay.”
