[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The chairman of the Korea Union Construction Industry Labor Union is under investigation by the police over allegations of embezzling union funds amounting to several hundred million won.
On the 17th, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul received a request for investigation earlier this month and has booked and is investigating Mr. A, the chairman of the Korea Union Construction Industry Labor Union, on charges of embezzlement in violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
Mr. A is reported to have used union funds to purchase apartments. It is also reported that he privately misappropriated union funds and lent 500 million and 800 million won to acquaintances.
