Goyang City Supports 'University Students' Self-Paid Tuition Fees' for 2nd Semester... Up to 1 Million Won
Reception from 9.13 to 11.30... Payment scheduled for the end of December
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it will expand the support for university students' self-paid tuition fees for the second semester through ordinance revision to practically reduce students' educational expenses and alleviate the burden of student loans.
The support targets university students aged 29 or younger (born after 1993) who are ▲ recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program ▲ low-income bracket households ▲ legally single-parent families ▲ disabled persons within income bracket 8 and university students from families with three or more children ▲ university students within income bracket 3.
The income criteria apply the tuition support brackets calculated by the Korea Student Aid Foundation for national scholarship support.
Eligibility requires completion of at least 12 credits in the previous semester with an average grade of C or higher, and as of the application date, the applicant must have been continuously registered as a resident in Goyang City with at least one household member for over 3 years or have a combined total of over 10 years of resident registration.
However, students who have their resident registration address near the school location outside Goyang City for academic reasons may also receive support if they meet certain residency requirements.
To prevent duplicate support, applicants must be enrolled in schools eligible for national scholarships, and the national scholarship for the second semester of this year must have been applied for in advance.
After deducting scholarships received from other institutions, welfare recipients can receive 100% of their self-paid tuition, while others can receive 50% of their self-paid tuition. The maximum support amount is 1,000,000 KRW per semester and 1,500,000 KRW annually.
