On the 16th, the Ministry of Education announced that CSAT applications will be accepted at 84 education support offices and high schools nationwide, excluding Saturdays and public holidays, from August 18 to September 2. The reception hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Applicants must submit their applications in person, with exceptions allowing proxy submissions. Proxy submissions are permitted for COVID-19 confirmed cases, persons with disabilities, inmates, military personnel, hospitalized patients, overseas residents (excluding overseas travelers), and other unavoidable circumstances recognized by the provincial superintendent of education.
From this year, proxy submissions will also be allowed for disabled students enrolled in the third year of high school, who were previously not permitted to use proxy submission until last year.
Graduating students currently enrolled in high school will have their applications submitted collectively by their school. Graduates such as repeat test takers should submit their applications at their alma mater high school. Those who passed the qualification exam and other recognized academic credentials can apply at the education support office in the jurisdiction of their current registered address.
Applicants with special circumstances such as long-term hospitalization, military service, or incarceration may submit their applications at their alma mater high school or the education support office in the jurisdiction of their current registered or actual residence.
High school graduates from Jeju and those with registered addresses in Jeju who are preparing for the exam outside Jeju Special Self-Governing Province can submit their applications at a separate reception center set up at the Seongdong-Gwangjin Education Support Office in Seoul on September 1 and 2.
At the time of application, applicants must prepare two passport-sized photos (3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height), the application fee, and an ID with a photo (for identity verification). Graduates submitting applications at the education support office must also prepare one graduation certificate and one resident registration abstract.
The application fee is 37,000 KRW for up to four subjects, 42,000 KRW for five subjects, and 47,000 KRW for six subjects. Payment should be made directly at the application reception center.
Applicants taking the vocational exploration section must also submit a principal’s certificate proving completion of at least 86 credits in the specialized curriculum II of industrial demand-oriented high schools and specialized high schools (80 credits for those who graduated before March 1, 2016).
Those who passed the high school equivalency exam must prepare a copy (or original) of the certificate of passing or a certificate of qualification, and other recognized academic credential holders must prepare relevant academic recognition documents. Detailed guidance can be obtained by contacting the local education support office.
Proxy applicants must prepare a proxy submission pledge form along with proof of relationship with the applicant, such as a family relation certificate (or resident registration copy), and additional supporting documents related to proxy submission such as military service verification (for military personnel) or quarantine notice (for quarantined individuals).
Starting this year, to enhance convenience for applicants and minimize face-to-face submissions, the pilot operation of online application form completion will expand from two regions (Sejong and Chungnam) to four regions including Daejeon and Chungbuk. Graduating or graduated students in these four regions can participate in online application form completion.
Applicants who qualify as recipients of basic national livelihood security, legally low-income households, or single-parent family support recipients as of the application date can apply for a fee waiver by submitting supporting documents.
Applicants who could not take the CSAT due to natural disasters, illness, final acceptance in early admissions, military enlistment, or other reasons may receive a partial refund of the application fee. The refund application period is from November 21 to 25. Applicants must visit the reception center with a refund application form, ID, medical certificate, and other supporting documents to apply.
