Like the "Superman on a White Horse," His Writings Arrive... 78th Anniversary of Yi Yuksa's Death Special Exhibition of Manuscripts "Inner Landscape"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Poems, writings, postcards, and paintings directly written by poet Yi Yuk-sa are coming. The inner world of Yi Yuk-sa, an independence activist and resistance poet, approaches us like a "superman riding a white horse."
On the 78th anniversary of Yi Yuk-sa's martyrdom, the Yi Yuk-sa Literature Museum will hold a "Yi Yuk-sa Manuscript Special Exhibition" from August 17 to 31 at the 34 Gallery of Andong Culture and Arts Center.
Held under the title "Inner Landscape of Yi Yuk-sa," this exhibition shows the intimate side of the human Yi Yuk-sa through his manuscripts. Centered on postcards and letters recording his reflections on life, it offers an opportunity to approach the life of Yi Yuk-sa as a person.
This exhibition will display over 30 manuscripts, including Yi Yuk-sa's orchid painting "Uigigapae," the registered cultural assets "Pyeonbok" and "Heart of the Sea," a Chinese letter written to Lee Sang-ha recently announced for cultural asset registration, and postcards written to Shin Seok-cho and Lee Won-bong.
Letters and paintings from Yi Yuk-sa's brothers?Lee Won-gi, Lee Won-il, Lee Won-jo, and Lee Won-chang?as well as calligraphy works by his maternal uncle Ilheon Heo Gyu and great-granduncle Wangsan Heo Wi will also be exhibited.
This exhibition is significant as the first comprehensive and focused attempt on Yi Yuk-sa's manuscripts. It is expected to raise public interest in Yi Yuk-sa's literature and independence movement.
Following the Andong exhibition, it will continue in September at the Daegu Life Culture Center and in October at the Yi Yuk-sa Cultural Space in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.
