Gangwon-do, Monitoring 'Illegal and Substandard Livestock Products Production and Distribution' Ahead of Chuseok
August 17-26: 246 Livestock Product Processing and Meat Packaging Businesses Across 10 Industries
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province is conducting hygiene inspections and crackdowns on livestock product businesses until the 26th to prevent the production and distribution of illegal and substandard livestock products in preparation for the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
The hygiene inspection targets include ▲20 meat processing businesses ▲1 dairy processing business ▲2 edible egg sorting and packaging businesses ▲64 meat packaging and processing businesses ▲3 livestock product transportation businesses ▲93 meat sales businesses ▲16 milk product sales businesses ▲5 specialized livestock product distribution businesses ▲5 edible egg collection and sales businesses ▲37 meat instant sales and processing businesses, totaling 246 establishments across 18 cities and counties and 10 industries.
The province plans to deploy 48 personnel in 24 teams, including city and county officials and local residents appointed as honorary livestock product hygiene inspectors, to conduct the crackdowns. Along with hygiene monitoring, laboratory tests related to the "Standards and Specifications for Food," such as bacterial counts and coliform groups, will be conducted simultaneously.
The main inspection items include ▲whether manufacturing or sales are conducted without notification ▲use or sale of products past their expiration date ▲compliance with hygiene management standards ▲appropriateness of self-quality inspections ▲compliance with preservation and distribution standards.
Serious or intentional violations will be strictly punished according to regulations, including business suspension and license cancellation.
