Seoul Disaster Victim Shelter, 3 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases... Quarantine Emergency
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] A COVID-19 case has been confirmed at a shelter for disaster victims in Dongjak-gu, Seoul.
According to Dongjak-gu Office on the 12th, a resident staying at the shelter for disaster victims set up on the 4th floor of Sadang 1-dong Community Center tested positive for COVID-19 on the 11th. The 3rd and 4th floors of the building were being used as temporary shelters for victims displaced by the heavy rain.
Upon receiving the notification of the confirmed case, the district immediately closed the shelter. The displaced residents staying at the facility were relocated to two nearby senior centers. They will undergo COVID-19 testing twice daily using self-diagnostic kits.
So far, the city has identified three confirmed cases within shelters for disaster victims, including those in Dongjak-gu. The city continues to monitor the situation and reports no additional transmission cases.

Meanwhile, as of 7 a.m. on the same day, the number of disaster victims in Seoul due to the heavy rain stands at 4,334. Among them, about 3,000 have not yet returned home. These individuals are staying in temporary accommodations such as schools and gymnasiums.
