Hwasun-gun Accepts Applications for 'FTA Damage Compensation Direct Payment' Until the 8th of Next Month
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun announced on the 12th that it is accepting applications for the '2022 Fisheries Sector FTA Damage Compensation Direct Payment' until the 8th of next month.
The FTA Damage Compensation Direct Payment is a system that compensates fishermen for part of the price decline caused by a sharp increase in seafood imports due to FTAs.
Eligible applicants are fishery operators and fishery corporations who have produced the four items of improved clams, eel, anglerfish, and mussels since before the announcement of the agreement and had sales performance last year.
The support limit is up to 35 million KRW per individual fisherman and up to 50 million KRW per fishery corporation.
Fishermen wishing to receive the damage compensation direct payment should submit the application form and supporting documents to the Hwasun-gun Agricultural Policy Division by the 8th of next month.
The county plans to conduct on-site investigations and reviews of the applicants' submissions in October, decide on the payment and support amount, and disburse the funds between November and December.
Earlier, on the 10th, the county held a '2022 Fisheries Sector FTA Damage Compensation Direct Payment Briefing' for local fishermen to guide them on application precautions and other details.
A county official stated, “We will continuously promote the program to all eligible fishing households to ensure no one misses out on the FTA damage compensation direct payment support,” adding, “We will do our best to alleviate the difficulties faced by fishermen affected by FTA implementation.”
