Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu: "Provincial Administration Tasks Are Promises to Residents"
Performance Evaluation Related to Task Implementation, to be Reflected in Future Personnel Decisions

The meeting was attended by Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, Kim Byung-gyu, Deputy Governor for Economy, Choi Man-rim, Deputy Governor for Administration, and heads of departments and divisions responsible for the provincial government tasks.
The meeting included a comprehensive report on the implementation plan for the provincial government tasks, presentations of implementation tasks by departments and divisions, and discussions on anticipated issues and improvement measures.
Governor Park said, “The provincial government tasks, including campaign pledges, are promises to the residents, so it is more important to implement them than just to plan.” He added, “For those that are realistically difficult to execute, we must communicate sufficiently with the residents, achieve results, and improve in ways that benefit the residents.”
According to the province, the provincial government tasks include major policy projects centered on the pledges presented by Governor Park during his transition team period since the beginning of June, along with additional projects linked and supplemented to these.
The plan will be further specified into four major innovations forming the foundation of the 8th term provincial government, five goals, 26 policy tasks, and 137 detailed tasks for implementation.
The implementation plan contains annual targets and schedules according to the final goals to be achieved for each task, feasible finances, and the roles of the province according to the responsible entities.
The province plans to strengthen investment attraction by establishing a dedicated organization with expertise to create a “dynamic regional economy through revitalized investment attraction” among the major tasks.
They are actively discovering customized incentives to induce companies to relocate within the province and attract large-scale investment companies.
The “Gyeongsangnam-do Investment Attraction Advisory Committee,” directly under the governor and composed of corporate and investment experts, is also expected to begin activities soon.
To realize the “Capital of Korea’s Aerospace Industry,” the province will promote the early establishment of the Aerospace Agency, a dedicated organization overseeing aerospace policies and industries, and the construction of the Western Gyeongnam Aerospace Cluster.
The plan is to nurture an industrial hub centered on aerospace industry infrastructure concentrated in Western Gyeongnam and lead the aerospace industry.
For “Startup Activation and Job Expansion,” the province will support youth startup activation by creating startup hubs utilizing specialized fields at each university.
They also plan to invigorate the economy of Gyeongnam by promoting private-led job creation through cooperation with companies, providing customized job support for youth, women, middle-aged, and elderly, and establishing a dedicated institution for new middle-aged jobs.
After collecting opinions from residents, the policy demanders, Gyeongsangnam-do plans to finalize the implementation plan for the provincial government tasks in September and disclose it on the Gyeongsangnam-do website.
To enhance the execution power of the provincial government tasks, the province will conduct quarterly self-assessments of progress and hold annual evaluations by civic groups including the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters.

Governor Park said, “Securing national funds for task implementation is like attracting corporate investment in that even one won more benefits the residents.” He added, “I hope the executives will take the lead in securing national funds with full effort, and I will reflect this in personnel evaluations through future performance assessments.”
