Domestic Public Golf Course Caddy Fees "Increased by 39.5% in 10 Years"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The caddy fees at public golf courses in South Korea have increased by nearly 40,000 won over the past decade.
According to the "Annual Caddy Fee Trends" data released on the 10th by the Korea Golf Consumer Agency, the team caddy fee at domestic public golf courses rose 39.5% from 99,300 won in 2012 to 138,500 won as of August this year. Member-only golf courses showed a similar increase rate of 38.3% during the same period. Among 242 public golf courses with 18 or more holes and 154 member-only golf courses surveyed for team caddy fees, 156 courses charged 140,000 won, 130 courses charged 130,000 won, and 106 courses charged 150,000 won. While only one course charged 140,000 won in the 2020 survey, this number surged to 146 courses in May this year and 156 courses in August.

Looking at the annual team caddy fee trends, fees were 100,000 won in 2010, 120,000 won in 2014, 130,000 won in 2021, and 140,000 to 150,000 won this year. It took nearly seven years to increase from 120,000 won to 130,000 won, but only one year to go from 130,000 won to 140,000?150,000 won. The Korea Golf Consumer Agency forecasted, "As the number of golf courses and night golf increase, demand for caddies is rising, but due to a shortage of new caddy supply, caddy fees are expected to continue rising for the time being."
