Minister Park Bo-gyun Discusses New Government's Regional Culture Policy Directions
Appointing the 4th Regional Culture Cooperation Committee and Holding the First Meeting
On the afternoon of the 10th, Park Bo-gyun, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will discuss the regional cultural policy direction of the new government with the Regional Culture Cooperation Committee at the Copyright Protection Division Seoul Office meeting room of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Regional Culture Cooperation Committee is a statutory committee that establishes the Basic Plan for Regional Culture Promotion and deliberates on matters related to balanced regional cultural development. The 4th Cooperation Committee, appointed on this day, consists of sixteen members: fourteen private members including Kim Gi-gon, Gwangju General Support Researcher at the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute; Kim Si-beom, professor at the Graduate School of Korean Cultural Industry at Andong University; Park Sang-eon, president of the National Federation of Regional Cultural Foundations; and Lee Seon-ok, director of the Uijae Museum of Art, as well as the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry’s Regional Culture Policy Officer. The term of office is two years. The chairperson is jointly held by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and a private member elected by the committee. The first meeting will address the new government’s regional cultural policy direction as an agenda item. Minister Park stated in last month’s presidential briefing, "We will open an era of regional balance through culture."
