[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gimhae City Public Health Center in Gyeongnam supports knee joint replacement surgery costs for low-income seniors aged 60 and over.
On the 9th, the city health center announced that it will carry out a project until the end of this year in cooperation with medical institutions in the province to support artificial joint surgery and medical expenses for seniors suffering from chronic degenerative arthritis.
The project will operate until the budget is exhausted and targets degenerative arthritis patients among Gimhae citizens who are medical aid recipients aged 60 and over, near-poverty class, or low-income groups in the bottom 50% of health insurance subscribers.
Health insurance workplace subscribers paying 110,100 KRW or less and regional subscribers paying 104,500 KRW or less are eligible for support.
The city covers the inspection fees, consultation fees, and surgery costs corresponding to the patient's co-payment, providing actual expense support up to 1 million KRW per one knee.
Support must be applied for before the surgery, and surgery costs incurred before the application will not be retroactively supported.
When applying, applicants must submit ▲diagnosis and medical opinion ▲certificate of recipient or near-poverty status or health insurance payment receipt from the last month ▲and a copy of family register, all issued within the last month.
