[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] POSCO Group has established an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Advisory Committee composed of experts from academia and industry.


On the 5th, POSCO Group held the first meeting of the AI Technology Advisory Committee at the POSCO Center in Seoul, where they shared new AI technologies and trends.


The committee consists of about 20 experts from academia and industry in the AI field, and is responsible for advising on business areas where AI can be applied within POSCO Group, identifying key talents, and business strategies. It will be operated by dividing into academic and industry expert committees.


The academic expert committee, which held the meeting that day, is composed of professors from Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University, KAIST, and POSTECH in six fields: algorithms, computational science, data science, visual intelligence, language intelligence, and prediction/control.


Experts from POSCO Group’s AI field, including Jung Chang-hwa, Director of the Future Technology Research Institute, Kim Joo-min, Head of the AI Research Center at the Future Technology Research Institute, and Seo Young-joo, Director of the AI Research Institute at POSTECH, also attended.


They shared the global technology status and held related discussions centered on "Green Intelligence," the core research direction of the AI Research Center under the Future Technology Research Institute, focusing on four research areas: manufacturing AI, management AI, material AI, and AI research.


Additionally, POSCO Group plans to hold an "Industry Expert Committee" in September, composed of AI experts in industrial fields such as robotics, energy, and materials.



Kim Joo-min, Head of the AI Research Center, said, "To accelerate the development of innovative technologies and increase the success rate, it is essential to establish an open and collaborative technology development system. We expect the AI Technology Advisory Committee to play a significant role in POSCO Group’s AI-related research and future strategy formulation."
