BMW Launches New 2 Series Active Tourer
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] BMW Korea announced on the 4th that it will officially launch the premium crossover model New 2 Series Active Tourer, featuring excellent space utilization and dynamic driving performance, in the domestic market.
The 2nd generation New 2 Series Active Tourer, introduced 8 years after the first launch in 2014, boasts a modern and sporty exterior, an interior transformed with progressive design, high practicality, advanced convenience features, and the latest connectivity technologies.
The New 218d Active Tourer, equipped with a 4-cylinder diesel engine, is available in Advantage and Luxury trims depending on design and convenience features. The body measures 4385mm in length, 1825mm in width, and 1575mm in height, which are increases of 30mm, 25mm, and 20mm respectively compared to the previous generation model. The trunk cargo space is 470ℓ by default and expands up to 1455ℓ when the rear seatbacks are fully folded down.
The New 2 Series Active Tourer is the first BMW compact model to be equipped with the latest infotainment system, the 8th generation iDrive. It also features the latest driver assistance systems. The Advantage trim includes Driving Assistant Standard, which comprises forward collision warning, lane change and blind spot warning, and pedestrian and vehicle approach warning when exiting the vehicle. The Luxury trim adds Driving Assistant Plus, which includes active cruise control and lane departure warning, supporting comfortable long-distance driving.
Additionally, Parking Assistant Plus, which includes parking assistance functions, surround view, panoramic view, 3D view, and reverse assistance that helps steer the vehicle up to 50 meters along the entry path, is standard on all trims.
The New 218d Active Tourer launched domestically is equipped with a BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine delivering a maximum output of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 36.7 kg·m. It is paired with a Steptronic 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that provides excellent efficiency and sporty driving feel, achieving a high fuel efficiency of 15.8 km per liter. The time to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h is 8.8 seconds.
