Gyeonggi Fire Department Chiefs to Visit Disaster Sites at Least Once a Week
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is strengthening on-site inspections of disaster scenes such as fires.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 3rd that from this month, fire station chiefs and other officials will directly visit sites to identify problems and solutions and reflect them in fire safety policies through the '현문현답 (現問現答, On-site Question and Answer)' inspection initiative.
Accordingly, Nam Hwa-young, head of the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, along with fire station chiefs and 119 Safety Center chiefs, will conduct on-site inspections at least once a week in fire safety vulnerable areas such as locations at risk of large fires, fire prevention reinforcement zones, priority management targets, and special fire safety management facilities.
The officials will visit sites to provide seasonal and timely fire prevention safety education and guidance, check self-defense firefighting team training to strengthen initial response capabilities, and share initial response methods. Additionally, one-point emergency inspections will be conducted on relevant facilities in case of accidents or various issues.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to actively incorporate voices from the field, such as sharing fire case studies by target, listening to suggestions, and proposing legal amendments and work improvements, into fire safety policies.
Earlier last month, Nam Hwa-young, who was appointed head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, urged fire station chiefs to visit sites one to two days a week to identify fire-vulnerable and life-risk areas and conduct on-site inspections.
Nam Hwa-young, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, emphasized, "To practice field-centered work execution, we have decided to regularize fire safety on-site inspections led by station chiefs," adding, "We will take the lead in finding solutions on-site and reflecting them in fire safety policies to provide impressive services to the residents."
