Changwon Coast Guard Ship 515 is demonstrating tactics for cracking down on foreign fishing vessels at the Small Boat Operation Skills Competition.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The 515 ship belonging to the Changwon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam was selected as the best in the medium-sized ship category for two consecutive years at the Small Boat Operation Capability Competition hosted by the Namhae Regional Maritime Police Agency.
The Small Boat Operation Capability Competition is held to demonstrate lifesaving techniques and foreign fishing vessel enforcement tactics using small boats mounted on medium and large ships, and to exchange capabilities among participating teams.
This year, the event was held on the 21st and 27th of last month at sea in front of the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, with 108 participants from 12 teams and 10 medium and large high-speed small boats over 250 tons from five maritime police stations including Sacheon, Tongyeong, Changwon, Busan, and Ulsan.
According to Changwon Maritime Police, the 515 ship presented enforcement measures against foreign fishing vessels tailored to the characteristics of its jurisdictional waters and a case of improving emergency patient transport using a buoyant stretcher during the competition.
The 515 ship, selected as the best, will represent the Namhae Maritime Police Agency at the nationwide competition hosted by the Korea Coast Guard in October.
