Incheon City to Recruit 10 New Public-Type Daycare Centers from Private and Home Daycare Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 3rd that it will newly recruit 10 public-type daycare centers.
Public-type daycare centers are childcare facilities designated to function as excellent childcare infrastructure by selecting outstanding private and home daycare centers, supporting their operating expenses, and applying strengthened operating standards to provide high-quality childcare to infants and young children.
Since the government first introduced them in 2011, a total of 140 public-type daycare centers are currently designated and operated in Incheon.
When selected as a public-type daycare center, support is provided monthly based on the number of teachers, classes, and children enrolled, including salary increases for childcare teachers, operating expenses for toddler classes, and educational environment improvement costs. Additionally, support is provided for the wages of cooks and to activate the operation of toddler classes.
Selection is made through evaluation by a designation review team composed of experts, and daycare centers scoring 65 points or higher out of the total score, calculated according to detailed designation criteria by capacity category, are designated in order of highest scores.
Designation as a public-type daycare center is valid for three years, but the designation will be canceled if the operating standards stipulated by the Infant and Child Care Act are not met.
Applications must be submitted to the district or county officer through the daycare center support system by the 12th. However, daycare centers currently applying for or operating as Incheon-type daycare centers, or those under administrative disposition or sanctions within the past five years, are excluded.
