Chosun University Hospital-Deltoid Sign MOU to Establish 'Metaverse Virtual Hospital'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University Hospital and Deltoid announced on the 3rd that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last month to jointly discover service models and cooperate through the establishment and operation of a medical metaverse platform.
The signing ceremony was held simultaneously in the metaverse and offline, and through the agreement, both parties agreed to mutually cooperate to pioneer and expand the market in the healthcare sector's future developing business areas.
The metaverse is a compound word of the English word "Meta," meaning "virtual" or "transcend," and "Universe," meaning universe, referring to a three-dimensional virtual world where social, economic, and cultural activities similar to the real world take place.
Based on the metaverse platform, a virtual hospital will be created, allowing not only domestic patients but also foreign patients to experience the hospital in the virtual world before visiting in person and indirectly experience medical services. It is expected to provide various high-quality information, including introducing Gwangju medical tourism content.
Meanwhile, Chosun University Hospital plans to implement △ the process for attracting foreign patients within the metaverse △ the exact measurement of the hospital realized in the metaverse to provide a pre-experience opportunity △ the establishment of foreign medical staff training programs and expansion of communication channels through Korea's first university hospital digital twin project.
Also, leveraging the advantages of no time and space constraints and usability anywhere in the world, it is embarking on a full-scale move to become a leading smart medical institution in the global market.
Hospital Director Kim Kyungjong said, "In line with the non-face-to-face and digital era, we proceeded with the MOU to provide diverse and new medical services to customers visiting the hospital," adding, "We will realize the value of a patient-centered hospital through the introduction of the metaverse virtual hospital."
Deltoid CEO Kim Yoseop said, "Through this cooperation, we expect to proceed with the hospital's metaverse business as an organically connected community and expand various contents and services," and added, "We will do our best to build a metaverse platform to provide diverse information to customers visiting the hospital."
