[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung, who was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting his executive secretary Kim Ji-eun and has been serving his sentence, will be released on the 4th after completing his term.
According to the legal community on the 2nd, former Governor Ahn will be released from Gyeonggi Yeoju Prison in the early morning of the 4th. He was indicted in April 2018 on charges of sexual intercourse and forcible molestation of a supervised person, and sexual harassment by abuse of authority under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, and in September 2019, the Supreme Court confirmed his prison sentence of 3 years and 6 months, which he has been serving.

Under the Public Official Election Act and the Act on the Effectiveness of Sentences, former Governor Ahn is prohibited from running for election for 10 years after his release. While incarcerated, he temporarily released on suspension of execution of sentence due to the death of his mother in July 2020 and the death of his father in March of this year.
