Namrae Jin Central Election Commission Member Nomination Passed in National Assembly Plenary Session
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 2nd, the National Assembly held a plenary session and approved the nomination of Nam Rae-jin as a member of the Central Election Commission.
In a secret electronic vote, Commissioner Nam received 249 votes in favor, 4 against, and 5 abstentions out of a total of 258 votes cast.
The National Assembly's Special Committee on Personnel Hearings (Chairperson: Jeon Hye-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea) held a personnel hearing for Commissioner Nam on the morning of the 25th of last month and adopted the personnel hearing report without objection that same afternoon.

Commissioner Nam, recommended by the People Power Party, is the successor to former Central Election Commissioner Kim Tae-hyun, whose term expired in November last year. He began his public service career in July 2001 as an Administrative Management Officer in the Planning and Management Office of the Election Commission and has served as a standing member of the Gyeongsangnam-do Election Commission and the Incheon Metropolitan City Election Commission.
