[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Korea GM announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 26,066 vehicles last month, marking the first year-on-year increase since June 2021.
Exports in July reached 21,949 units, a 53.2% increase compared to the same month last year. The Chevrolet Trailblazer, along with the Buick Encore GX which shares the same vehicle platform, exported a total of 16,585 units, representing a 44.4% increase year-on-year.
In the domestic market, Chevrolet Spark and Trailblazer sold 1,005 and 1,870 units respectively. Newly launched models this year, including the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Bolt EUV, Equinox, Traverse, and Tahoe, accelerated customer deliveries and continued to receive positive market responses.
Additionally, the Chevrolet Traverse sold 420 units in July alone, marking a 36.4% increase compared to the same month last year. The Chevrolet Traverse continues to enjoy steady popularity in the imported large SUV market with its overwhelming body size and best-in-class power performance. The Bolt EUV sold 150 units in July.
Carlos Minert, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing at Korea GM, stated, "Amid ongoing delivery delays across the industry, Chevrolet is resolving vehicle shipment backlogs through rapid customer deliveries of popular models such as the Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, and Bolt EUV. With key models at the core of Korea GM’s two-track strategy, encompassing both domestic and imported vehicles including the Chevrolet Trailblazer, generating steady market responses, we will further strengthen Chevrolet’s position in the domestic market based on this positive momentum."
