Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Hosts 'DMZ 2-Day 1-Night Family Camp' at Paju Camp Greaves
[Asia Economy (Paju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization organized a special family event at the civilian control zone 'Camp Greaves' for multicultural families in the Paju area.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced that, in collaboration with the Paju Family Center, it held a 'DMZ 1 Night 2 Days Family Camp' over two days on the 30th and 31st for multicultural families residing in Paju with elementary school children.
The camp, attended by 15 multicultural families, featured a variety of programs including the 'DMZ Ecological Culture Class' to learn about the DMZ ecosystem, a 'Healing Concert' with magic performances and lectures, and optional experiential programs such as making jangdan bean chocolate.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization plans to hold two additional events by October, starting with this family camp. For inquiries about participation in additional events, please contact the Paju Family Center.
A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization said, "This event was meaningful as it was held with multicultural families who had fewer travel opportunities due to COVID-19," adding, "We will prepare various programs in the future to enable more people to enjoy Camp Greaves."
Camp Greaves DMZ Experience Center, located within the civilian control zone, is a space converted by Gyeonggi Province from a U.S. military base facility into a peace experience facility for civilians. Since 2013, it has been used as a youth hostel with lodging available. Despite the spread of COVID-19 last year, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization conducted 12 filming projects at Camp Greaves, including the music video for "When Night Falls" by singers Simon Dominic and Loco (affiliated with AOMG), as well as certification of the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency's DMZ 1 Night 2 Days 'Peace' program.
