[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will temporarily lift the taxi rotation system during late-night hours (10 PM to 4 AM the next day) starting from the 1st of next month.
The city announced on the 29th that it decided to lift the taxi rotation system in consultation with the Private Taxi Association and corporate taxi industry to alleviate the taxi shortage occurring during late-night hours following the full lifting of social distancing measures.
Currently, private taxis in Bucheon operate under a 4-shift system, where they work for 3 days and rest on the 4th day.
Previously, taxis scheduled for rest under the rotation system were not allowed to operate from 12 AM to 12 AM the next day, but with the late-night rotation lift, they can now operate for 6 hours from 10 PM to 4 AM the next day.
