View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] SK Telecom is leveraging the floating population data accumulated through its big data artificial intelligence (AI) analysis solution 'GeoVision' to support smart city and eco-science research.
On the 29th, SK Telecom announced that it signed a 'business agreement for data-driven industry-academia cooperation' with researchers from Seoul National University (SNU) regarding this initiative.
The agreement involves SNU's Smart City Global Convergence Innovation Talent Education and Research Group and the Specialized Graduate School of Intelligent Eco-Science.
SK Telecom will provide the floating population data accumulated through 'GeoVision' to the SNU research group and graduate school, and support education on data analysis and utilization.
Both parties plan to promote ▲ technology development for building green infrastructure to respond to the climate crisis ▲ field education and lectures related to the use of floating population data in the smart city sector ▲ task discovery for joint project development ▲ exchange of personnel and information through industry-academia cooperation ▲ sharing of collaborative outcomes.
Jang Hong-seong, head of SK Telecom's Advertising/Data Company, said, "We hope SK Telecom's expertise in data utilization will contribute to Seoul National University's research in smart cities and eco-science."
Professor Ryu Young-ryeol of SNU's Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional System Engineering, part of the Smart City Education and Research Group, stated, "Industry-academia cooperation will enable big data analysis of floating population, and we expect this to become a good example of industry-academia-research collaboration in the smart city field."
