Jeonnam Vision and Pledge Committee Presents Blueprint for 8th Term Provincial Policy Directions
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The 8th Civilian-led Jeonnam Vision and Pledge Committee held a public report meeting at the Jeonnam Provincial Office on the 28th, announcing the policy direction of the 8th Civilian-led Jeonnam Province, including future growth engines and happiness policies, along with 100 major pledges, 60 policy tasks, and implementation plans. They also delivered a report containing these details to the province.
The report meeting was attended by Co-Chairman Choi Il, other committee members and advisors, as well as heads of Jeonnam provincial offices and bureaus.
Based on the report covering future growth engine industries and citizen happiness policies, Jeonnam Province plans to establish an implementation plan for the 8th Civilian-led pledges, gather public opinions, and finalize and announce it around September.
The Vision and Pledge Committee conducted activities throughout June to review Governor Kim Young-rok’s pledges and discover policy tasks.
They reviewed the feasibility and public trust of the pledges announced by Governor Kim during the election period and identified essential projects not included in the pledges as policy tasks.
They finalized the list of tasks to propose to Jeonnam Province and refined the implementation plans for each task, confirming 100 major pledges and 60 policy tasks under 20 strategic tasks across 8 major fields, which were announced on this day.
Key pledges and policy tasks in the 8 major fields include, in the “New Marine, Cultural Tourism, and Eco-friendly Capital Jeonnam” construction sector: ▲Joint development of the semiconductor industry in Jeonnam and Gwangju (pledge) ▲Creation of a Southern Coast space industry belt (pledge) ▲Establishment of a Southern Coast global marine tourism belt (policy task). In the “Massive youth job creation through advanced strategic industries” sector: ▲Attracting 30 trillion KRW investment in advanced and strategic industries (pledge) ▲Attracting a super-powerful laser research facility (pledge) ▲Establishment of a radioactive waste technology human resource development institute (policy task).
In the “Leading global energy transition” sector: ▲Creation of an eco-friendly renewable energy industrial belt (pledge) ▲Co-hosting the 33rd United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties in the Southern Coast and South Central region (pledge) ▲Development of an energy mega-city centered on the Energy Valley (policy task). In the “Leading era of cultural and tourism prosperity” sector: ▲Creation of a Jirisan and Seomjingang East-West inland tourism belt connecting Yeong and Honam regions (pledge) ▲Establishment of an ICT cultural tourism convergence industry cluster (pledge) ▲Creation of premium urban streams (policy task).
In the “Cultivating agriculture, fisheries, and livestock as high value-added life industries” sector: ▲Creation of an advanced agricultural industry convergence zone (pledge) ▲Establishment of the National Namdo Food Promotion Institute (pledge) ▲Establishment of a National Agricultural Industry Big Data Center (policy task). In the “Renaissance of infrastructure (SOC) for Jeonnam’s leap to a super-regional mega-city” sector: ▲Early commencement of Jeolla Line high-speed railway construction (pledge) ▲Early completion of the second phase of Honam Line high-speed railway (KTX) (pledge) ▲Opening of connecting roads between eastern, central, and western regions (policy task).
In the “Citizen-first principle and on-site communication” sector: ▲Operation of the Honam Youth Academy (pledge) ▲Expansion of happiness vouchers for female farmers and fishers ▲Expansion of our neighborhood welfare task force (pledge) ▲Support for 100-year health sports activities (policy task). In the “Realizing an era where Jeonnam becomes the center of balanced national development in Korea” sector: ▲Cultivation of 1 million Jeonnam Love (愛) Supporters (pledge) ▲Attraction of the National Jeonnam Medical School (pledge) ▲Establishment of an international school (policy task).
