Joint Disaster Preparedness with Large Construction Site 'Geonchuk Anjeon Jamundang' Advisory Group
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will conduct joint inspections of 11 private construction sites in the jurisdiction from July 29 to August 11 to prepare for major disasters, together with the Building Safety Advisory Group.
In response to the recent increase in weather variability such as localized heavy rain, the city will carry out special safety inspections on 11 large private construction sites involving underground excavation work with high risk of major accidents, as well as sites installing construction machinery such as tower cranes.
The Changwon Special City Building Safety Advisory Group (private experts including architects and engineers) will participate in the inspections and focus on their respective areas of expertise.
The city will focus on inspecting ▲ the management status of collapse risks at underground excavation sites ▲ defects in earth retaining structures ▲ structural review and proper implementation of regular safety inspections of tower cranes ▲ degree of aging of tower crane machinery, connection status of emergency stop devices ▲ and whether safety inspection issues related to wind and flood disaster preparedness have been addressed.
Minor issues found during the inspection will be corrected on site, while sites with concerns of major disasters will be subject to immediate corrective actions and legal measures such as suspension of construction.
Additionally, based on the identified issues, the city plans to discuss directions for improving safety management with the Building Safety Advisory Group to strengthen voluntary preventive activities.
