[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sunmi] Samsung Electronics announced that it has secured major customers as it becomes the world's first to mass-produce 3-nanometer foundry processes applying Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology.
On the 28th, during the Q2 earnings conference call, Samsung Electronics stated, "The 2nd generation 3nm GAA process is being developed as planned with the goal of mass production in 2024," adding, "Compared to the 1st generation, area, performance, and power efficiency are improved." It also said, "We have secured multiple major mobile customers and are in discussions for orders with numerous high-performance computing and mobile customers," and "The scale will gradually expand."

Samsung Electronics recently held a shipment ceremony for its 1st generation 3nm foundry products applying GAA technology. The 3nm process is the most advanced technology among semiconductor manufacturing processes. At the shipment ceremony, Samsung Electronics previously announced that it applied the 3nm GAA process to high-performance computing for the first time and is cooperating with key customers to expand its application to various product lines such as mobile system-on-chip (SoC) products.
