Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters Publishes Special Disaster Response Technology Manual
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has published a revised edition of the disaster response technical manual for firefighters, categorized by disaster types.
On the 27th, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced that it has completed the maintenance of the "High-Risk Group Special Disaster Response Technical Manual," which compiles response techniques for a total of 20 disaster types.
This manual clearly organizes the characteristics, response techniques, and improvement measures for 20 types of disasters, including fire response techniques by location such as large logistics warehouses, eco-friendly vehicles, and large hazardous material storage fires, as well as various disaster response techniques for hazardous chemical spills, radiation leaks, and multi-vehicle collisions on highways.
The manual was originally published in 2017 with 16 types and had 4 additional types added in 2019.
In January of this year, the manual maintenance began by selecting staff experts on the content and launching a task force (TF), which proceeded with the manual maintenance until June.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters distributed 450 copies of the manual to 35 fire stations under its jurisdiction.
In particular, it has been selected for cyber content production at the Gyeonggi Fire School and is currently under development. Additionally, it will be introduced as an electronic book (ebook) through the administrative work portal, making the manual more convenient and accessible, thereby maximizing learning effectiveness.
A representative of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters stated, "The firefighting environment in Gyeonggi-do is becoming increasingly challenging due to explosive growth in firefighting demand from population and facilities, along with successive large-scale fires. We sincerely hope that the revised manual will become the bible for over 10,000 Gyeonggi-do firefighters and greatly aid in protecting the lives and property of residents."
