Promoting to 28 Countries Worldwide and Expanding International Cultural Exchange
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The 32nd Geochang International Theater Festival, which opened on the 22nd under the theme "BEGIN AGAIN: Another World, Dreaming Passion," has become a hot topic after being listed on Korea.net by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOCIS) is a government agency under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that promotes Korea's beautiful culture worldwide and expands cultural exchange between countries. It operates 33 Korean Cultural Centers in 28 countries around the world, playing a role in conveying the value of Korean culture to global audiences.
On June 28, Lee Jong-ryul, Director of Overseas Cultural Promotion Planning at KOCIS and a native of Geochang, visited Geochang, toured the Suseungdae area with Geochang County Governor Goo In-mo, and conducted an interview regarding the Geochang International Theater Festival.
Additionally, a KOCIS reporter has been stationed in Geochang to cover various news related to the festival, including the opening ceremony during the festival period.
As a sponsoring organization of the Geochang International Theater Festival, KOCIS posted news about the festival twice, on June 21 and July 13, on Korea.net, the government’s representative multilingual portal visited by 1.5 million people from 133 countries monthly with over 8 million monthly views, introducing the festival to overseas audiences.
Notably, the festival is introduced in 10 languages including English, Chinese, and Korean. To attract foreign Hallyu fans, hashtags highlighting BTS’s V, a native of Geochang, and Kang Dong-won, a graduate of Geochang High School, were also included.
Governor Goo said, “The Geochang International Theater Festival is gaining attention not only domestically but also internationally. We hope many people visit and enjoy the outdoor summer festival at Suseungdae, where nature, humanity, and theater come together, despite the summer heat.”

Meanwhile, the 32nd Geochang International Theater Festival is being held for 15 days from the 22nd until August 5 at Suseungdae and throughout Geochang County.
