On the 26th, Incheon City announced that Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok met with Xing Haiming (邢海明), the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, and reached this agreement.
This meeting was arranged at the request of Ambassador Xing Haiming, who had planned to visit Incheon City. Ambassador Xing, who was appointed as the Chinese Ambassador to Korea in January 2020, is known to be serving his fourth term in Korea.
On this day, Mayor Yoo proposed to Ambassador Xing that this year, marking the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, they jointly host the 'In-China Forum,' and Ambassador Xing accepted the proposal to co-host it with the Chinese Embassy.
Now in its 6th year, the In-China Forum has served as a platform for Korea-China exchange and business, holding an international conference every autumn. This year, under the theme "Suggestions for Future-Oriented Korea-China Relations," a variety of programs involving youth who will lead the future of Korea-China relations will be conducted.
Also, in this year designated as the "Year of Korea-China Cultural Exchange," various events will be held in Incheon, including the Asia Cultural Exchange Exhibition (September 5?8), the East Asia Youth Peace Camp (September 16), and the Incheon-Chongqing Sister City 15th Anniversary Archery Online Competition (September 29).
Mayor Yoo told Ambassador Xing, "I will sincerely do my best to improve relations with China," adding, "If the central government falls short, Incheon as a local government will work to resolve the issues."
Ambassador Xing requested, "Please take the lead so that Korea-China relations can develop further."
Meanwhile, Incheon City has sister city agreements with Tianjin, Chongqing, and Shenyang, and maintains friendly city relations and exchanges with eight other cities: Dalian, Dandong, Qingdao, Shandong Province, Yantai, Harbin, Henan Province, and Guangzhou.
