[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Junhyung] Park Iljun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, visited the Korea Power Exchange located in Naju, Jeollanam-do, to check the current power supply and demand status.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Vice Minister Park visited the Central Power Control Center at the Korea Power Exchange in Naju, Jeollanam-do, on the afternoon of the 24th. Vice Minister Park visited the Central Power Control Center to inspect the summer power supply and demand measures and to encourage on-site workers.
Earlier, power demand reached an all-time high due to early heatwaves at the beginning of this month. However, as the government implemented supply and demand measures such as mobilizing additional reserve resources, the supply reserve capacity was managed stably.
Since the second week of this month, power demand has remained below 90GW due to continuous rainy season and falling temperatures. The government is maintaining the supply reserve capacity above 10GW.
