Hyundai Mobis to Distribute 100,000 Transparent Umbrellas for Child Safety Again This Year
Distributed 1.2 Million Units to 75 Schools Nationwide...
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Mobis announced on the 25th that it will carry out the "Transparent Umbrella Sharing Campaign," visiting elementary schools nationwide again this year. The Transparent Umbrella Sharing Campaign is a representative social contribution activity that Hyundai Mobis has been conducting since 2010, based on a sense of responsibility for children's traffic safety.
For the first event, Hyundai Mobis held a transparent umbrella sharing ceremony on the 22nd for about 1,200 students of Cheongju Changsin Elementary School. At the sharing ceremony, transparent umbrellas that help children secure their field of vision were distributed, and safety education using model crosswalks and traffic lights was also conducted.
Hyundai Mobis delivers more than 100,000 transparent umbrellas every year by receiving applications from institutions and individuals together with the Korea Child Safety Foundation and the Road Traffic Authority. So far, the number of transparent umbrellas distributed free of charge by Hyundai Mobis for children's traffic safety has surpassed 1.2 million this year. More than 2,100 schools have participated in the sharing activities.
In particular, starting this year, Hyundai Mobis selected sharing schools using the children's traffic safety education app "School Road," developed last year. A total of 75 elementary schools that downloaded the app and completed the safety education provided by the app were selected. "School Road" informs children of safe commuting methods by assuming various dangerous situations that may occur on the way to and from school.
The transparent umbrellas made of vinyl material by Hyundai Mobis help children secure their field of vision on rainy days. The reflective material attached to the umbrella also makes it easier for drivers to identify children walking at night, helping to prevent traffic accidents. In fact, according to the "Traffic Safety Research" published by the Road Traffic Authority in 2019, transparent umbrellas have been shown to prevent nearly 30% of child pedestrian accidents.
In addition to elementary schools nationwide, Hyundai Mobis plans to provide transparent umbrellas to the general public by collecting stories that reflect interest and importance in children's traffic safety until the end of the year. Hyundai Mobis's stakeholders, including partners, dealerships, and employees, will also participate in the transparent umbrella sharing activities.
