Continued 'No.1 Suitability for Party Leader' Lee Jun-seok... Continuing 'Jangoe Politics'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] On the 8th, Lee Jun-seok, the party leader who was disciplined with a '6-month suspension of party membership rights' by the People Power Party Central Ethics Committee, continued to rank first in the 'next party leader suitability' poll. Since the disciplinary action, Lee has been encouraging party membership and meeting party members nationwide, continuing his 'extraparliamentary politics.'
According to a survey conducted by polling agency Jowon C&I from the 16th to the 18th targeting 1,000 voters aged 18 and over nationwide on the 'suitability of People Power Party leader' (sampling error 95% confidence level ±3.1 percentage points, response rate 3.5%), Lee ranked first with 25.2%. Following him were Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo (18.3%), former Assemblywoman Na Kyung-won (9.2%), Assemblyman Kim Ki-hyun (4.9%), Assemblyman Jang Je-won (4.4%), Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong (3.1%), and Minister of Unification Kwon Young-se (2.4%), in that order.
Lee was the most favored candidate regardless of age, gender, or region. Notably, he received strong support of 29% in the Gwangju-Jeolla region. In the conservative stronghold of Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) region, he also recorded 29.1%. By age group, the highest support was among 18-29 year-olds (33.1%), but he also showed evenly high support among those in their 30s (29.3%), 60 and older (26%), and 50s (20.2%).
Lee has been consecutively leading in polls regarding the next People Power Party leadership. In a survey conducted by polling specialist Nextweek Research commissioned by KBC Gwangju Broadcasting and UPI News from the 12th to 13th targeting 1,000 adults aged 18 and over nationwide on the suitability of the next People Power Party leader (sampling error 95% confidence level ±3.1 percentage points, response rate 4.6%), Lee received 22.9% support, ranking first. Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo was second with 20.4% within the margin of error, followed by former Assemblywoman Na Kyung-won (12%), Assemblyman Kim Ki-hyun (5.9%), and Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong (4%).
Lee received 47% support from the core support group classified as 'I-dae-nam' (males in their 20s). He also garnered support rates of 29.7% and 28.1% in Daegu-Gyeongbuk and Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam regions, respectively.

On the 8th, the day he was disciplined, he posted, "A fast and easy way to become a member of the People Power Party. Online party membership registration," adding, "If you pledge to pay a monthly party fee of 1,000 won, you can become a responsible party member after three months and participate in the decision-making of the People Power Party. It only takes 3 minutes." He subsequently posted online membership links on the 11th, 16th, and 21st.

His extraparliamentary politics outside Yeouido continue as well. On the previous day, Lee posted on his Facebook, "I came to Jindo, and today there was a busking event to revitalize the local commercial district, so I sang a bit," adding, "During the local elections and presidential elections, I listened to the opinions of Jindo residents regarding roads connecting Yeongam to Jindo and roads passing through Jindo, and reflected them in the pledges. Today, I repay with a song first. I will not forget." Prior to this, Lee was seen meeting party members while traveling to places such as Chuncheon in Gangwon and Busan.
