Gwangju University Donates Proceeds from 'SUMMER Party' to Volunteer Center
1,402,000 Won Donated to Namgu Volunteer Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 22nd that it donated 1,402,000 won in proceeds from the 'SUMMER Party' outdoor water park event held with local youth and children to the Gwangju Nam-gu Volunteer Center.
The proceeds will be used to support local children from single-parent households facing difficult circumstances.
Kim Jeonghee, director of the Gwangju Nam-gu Volunteer Center, said, "Gwangju University has become a model university contributing to the local community by hosting various contribution activities and events with citizens," adding, "Our center will also cooperate in activities to realize social value through active support such as supplies and manpower."
Yoon Hongsang, head of the Student Support Office at Gwangju University, stated, "We plan to operate various activity programs to deliver positive messages to the local community in the future," and added, "We will expand talent donation activities actively participated in by students and university members."

At the water park event, GU Sports Volunteer Group student Ahn Seyon (Department of Sports Science, 4th year), who participated in volunteer activities to prevent safety accidents, said, "The event was safely concluded with high public response," and added, "I will take the lead in activities that fulfill the university's ideology and functions and meet the expectations of the local community through volunteering linked to my major."
