According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Deputy Prime Minister Choo made these remarks during an expanded executive meeting held at the Government Complex Sejong in the morning, attended by the first and second vice ministers, first-level officials, directors, deliberators, and general managers of each department.
Marking three months since Deputy Prime Minister Choo's inauguration, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has announced major policies such as the second supplementary budget after the new government’s launch, the new government’s economic policy direction, livelihood measures, and the 2022 tax reform plan.
Deputy Prime Minister Choo praised the efforts of the Ministry of Economy and Finance staff regarding these policies and ordered, "We will continue to strive to ensure that these measures lead to tangible results on the ground."
He also urged, "When formulating policies, actively engage in field visits and broad opinion gathering so that the private sector, market, and enterprises, who know the field best, can take the lead, and ensure that social minorities and vulnerable groups, whose influence on public opinion is relatively weak, are not neglected and receive adequate policy attention."
Furthermore, to secure momentum for policy implementation, Deputy Prime Minister Choo said, "Always listen to evaluations from the media, opposition parties, and stakeholders regarding government policies, and actively communicate to accurately inform and use this as an opportunity to supplement policies," adding, "Especially for the recently announced tax reform plan, please make efforts in publicity so that its expected effects and other aspects can be well known through objective evaluations by private experts."
Since the tax reform plan announced the day before involves numerous legislative tasks, he instructed, "In addition to party-government consultations with the ruling party, strengthen efforts to actively explain and seek understanding and cooperation from the opposition parties."
