KOSPI Starts Lower, Turns Slightly Up... KOSDAQ Recaptures 800 Level After 24 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] On the morning of the 22nd, the KOSPI index rose slightly, moving around the 2410 level. The KOSDAQ index also increased its gains, returning to the 800 level. Institutional investors are net selling over 100 billion KRW in the KOSPI market.
As of 9:22 AM, the KOSPI stood at 2415.58, up 0.27% (6.42 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened down 0.16% (3.79 points) at 2405.37 and initially extended its decline, threatening the low 2400s, but soon reversed to an upward trend. In the KOSPI market, institutions sold 105.7 billion KRW worth of stocks. Individuals and foreigners countered by net buying 71.4 billion KRW and 33.1 billion KRW, respectively.
Top market capitalization stocks in the KOSPI showed mixed movements. Samsung Electronics traded at 62,100 KRW, up 0.49% (300 KRW) from the previous day, reaching above the 62,000 KRW level. SK Hynix remained unchanged at 102,500 KRW. LG Energy Solution (-0.51%) and LG Chem (-1.41%), which rose the previous day, are currently declining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index rose 0.64% (5.07 points) to 800.22 compared to the previous day. This marks the first time in 24 trading days since May 20 that the KOSDAQ has surpassed the 800 mark during trading hours. By investor type, individuals and institutions bought 23.6 billion KRW and 11.1 billion KRW, respectively, while foreigners net sold 33.4 billion KRW.
Among the top market capitalization stocks in KOSDAQ, secondary battery-related stocks such as L&F (3.83%), EcoPro BM (2.26%), and Cheonbo (2.84%) showed notable gains. Entertainment-related stocks like Kakao Games (-0.58%) and Studio Dragon (-0.26%) declined.

Ji-young Han, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, said, "Major companies such as Kia, Hyundai Mobis, NAVER, and Hana Financial Group are scheduled to announce earnings today," adding, "During the trading session, stock price movements will vary depending on individual earnings issues."
